Each of us deserves a place to call "home."
WHO WE ARE
Started in 2020, the PMB Homeless Network is a coalition of like minded organisations working together to end the crisis of homelessness in our city. As a unified body, representing political, business, religious and NPO sectors, we aspire to work together to solve a problem affecting over 2000 people in the city of Pietermaritzburg, but are also aiming to create replicable models than can be expanded beyond our city.
We work with an open hand and open book approach, everyone is welcome and our inscrutability is our biggest asset.
We aim for transparency and fairness at every turn and welcome input from any organisation willing to work along the same guidelines.
We don't want to create a short term solution to a long term problem, but a sustainable, meaningful alternative to life on the streets, to be available to all those who are willing to participate in their own rehabilitation.
Formalised in early 2023 as PMB Homeless Network, we have expanded into a gentle yet authoritative voice in our city when advocating for the street community.

Vision
A city and street community safe, rehabilitated and restored.
Mission
Our mission is to provide comprehensive care for the homeless by creating a collective network that works together to deliver compassionate support, resources, and services. We strive to create a safe and supportive environment that allows the homeless to gain access to the care they need in order to transition to a more stable life. We will collaborate with service providers, businesses, and community members to develop successful solutions that promote self-sufficiency and foster a sense of dignity and self-worth among the homeless.
Method
Leveraging our partner’s diverse range of strengths to provide specialised, intentional care to members of the street community who are committed to rehabilitation and reintegration. Combining skills and efforts to work towards the common goal of lessening street homelessness.
