The Shelter

096E91B1-53A1-43C7-A4D5-57C9D4F74BD3.heic

Affordable and accessible safe sleeping space. This will be an outdoor sleeping space, but mattresses, sleeping bags and protection will be provided. The guests will sleep warm, safe and dry. The bar for entry is low so that guests are encouraged to come. It only expects of them to obey the law on our premises, but they are given the basic dignities of access to ablutions, a safe, warm, dry place to sleep and the possibility of a meal.
Desired Outcome: Guests come to the Safe Space and start to utilise the service centre during the day. Once trust is re-built, the option for phase 2, 3 and 4 become more possible.

Phase 2: Service Centre

Those visiting the Safe Space sleep area from Phase 1 are welcome to frequent the Service Centre. This will be an expansive area allocated to services aimed at assisting the homeless clients work towards a life recovery plan. This will also include meals and medical care.
Desired Outcome: regular attendance of clients so that they are encouraged to move into the shelter (Phase 3) and also are taking ownership of their life recovery journey towards sobriety, rehabilitation and restoration.

Phase 3: Shelter Guest

Those who show invested interest in getting off the street are afforded the opportunity to move indoors and become guests. There will be a time limit on this phase, as the commitment is nominal at this stage. Once the guest has chosen to work towards recovery, they graduate to stage 4. Should they not want to commit to this journey, they may run the risk of returning to phase 1 to re-start the process and make space for those who would like to progress to Phase 4.
Desired outcome: Adaptation to living in a community again and making a choice to invest in their journey off the streets.

Phase 4: Shelter Clients

Helping those living in our facility reach a level of sobriety and indepence which will enable them to become contributing members of society once more.
Once a Guest participates in a Life Recovery Program, which is guided by a team of professionals, they become a Client at the shelter. This phase is more intention and with more direct intervention, in agreement with the client, to work towards recovery and restoration.

Desired outcome: Sobriety, Independence and possibility of rebuilt family relationships.
